The Outer Banks Daredevils are excited to announce that Corey Hodges will be returning to the Daredevils again this summer, serving as our Director of Sports Information and will be on the call during our U-Stream broadcast of all Daredevils games.
Corey brings a wealth of experience and energy to our front office, and his professionalism is unparalleled. Please join us in welcoming Corey Hodges back to the team for another season of Daredevils baseball.
The Outer Banks Daredevils are looking for a few more families to join our great team of Host Families for the upcoming season.
One of the key elements in the success of any collegiate summer baseball program is the willingness of local families to serve as Host Families. These families take the players into their homes for the summer, providing a safe and comfortable place for them to live and make it possible for us to have a local team. Collegiate summer baseball would not be possible without host families, and we appreciate those of you who have served as host families during past seasons. Your generosity and hospitality make it possible for the Outer Banks Daredevils to exist, and we are hopeful that once again, you, and others, will be willing to house a player the upcoming season.
Collegiate summer baseball provides college players the unique opportunity to participate in additional baseball games following the conclusion of their collegiate season, allowing them to work on their skills, and gain valuable experience on the field. In addition, collegiate summer baseball provides local towns and communities, such as ours, the unique opportunity to have great collegiate level baseball played here in our hometown. The Daredevils are our home team, and provide quality family entertainment for both our local residents as well as the thousands of vacationers who join us each summer. We are proud to have been awarded Best of the Beach in 2013 for Best Family Attraction, and are excited to continue the proud tradition that was started by Warren Spivey, and continued by Marcus Felton his partners, who tirelessly worked to provide our local residents as well as those joining us during the summer months the opportunity to enjoy great collegiate summer baseball right here in the OBX.
Being a host family means providing a player with a comfortable place to sleep and store his or her belongings. The players are required to live under your house rules and be respectful of your home, your family and your family activities. Players are expected to provide their own transportation, to keep their room and belongings neat and orderly, and to make provisions for their own meals, health and personal care items, be courteous, helpful and pleasant to their host families, and to minimize the noise level of their activities at all times. A host family may wish to occasionally invite the player to join them for a meal, and that is appreciated but not expected. We ask our host families to provide a clean and pleasant environment, including a bedroom, for the player staying with them, along with reasonable use of bathroom and laundry facilities. Our players will be arriving approximately June 3rd , and will be here with us through July 23rd. The season begins June 5, 2017, and the end of the Championship series will be concluded not later than July 23, 2017.
If you would be willing to serve as a host family for the upcoming season, or would like more information about becoming a host family, please contact us. Thank you in advance for considering becoming a host family.
