John Croak helps Outer Banks Daredevils down Greenbrier Knights 6-3

Tuesday, July 30, 2013 – First Flight Baseball Complex, Kill Devil Hills, NC.

John Croak went 3-3 at the plate as Outer Banks Daredevils took home a 6-3 victory over Greenbrier Knights at First Flight HS on Tuesday.

He singled in the third, sixth, and eighth innings.

James Walsh was in control on the mound. Greenbrier Knights managed just three hits off of Walsh, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Outer Banks Daredevils stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring three runs on a groundout by Conner Hall and a two-run triple by Eric Schenck-Joblinske.

Two runs in the top of the fourth helped Greenbrier Knights close its deficit to 3-2. A walk by Tyler Crupper and a passed ball gave Greenbrier Knights life. Finally, James got Cam Stewart to ground out to end the threat.

Outer Banks Daredevils tacked on another two runs in the eighth. A sacrifice fly scored Will Connerly for the inning’s first run. That was followed up by Eric’s single, scoring Cam Kostyack.

One run in the top of the ninth helped Greenbrier Knights close its deficit to 6-3. A groundout by Tyler Jordan triggered Greenbrier Knights’ comeback. Finally, Josh Howard got Jordan Sargent to ground out to end the game.

Outer Banks Daredevils defeats Virginia Warriors, 11-1

Virginia Warriors didn’t stand a chance on Friday, as Outer Banks Daredevils captured a blowout 11-1 win at First Flight HS.

Will Connerly racked up four RBIs on three hits for Outer Banks Daredevils. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the seventh inning, and tripled in the eighth inning.

Virginia Warriors’ lineup had no answer for Devon Hemmerich. Virginia Warriors managed just one hit off of Hemmerich, who allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out seven during his seven innings of work.

Outer Banks Daredevils never surrendered the lead after the second inning, scoring one run on a steal of home by Kevin Stein.

Outer Banks Daredevils piled on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Raheim Cooper singled, scoring Eric Schenck-Joblinske to start the inning. That was followed up by Kevin’s single, bringing home Raheim.

Outer Banks Daredevils answered Virginia Warriors’ top inning with two runs of its own in the sixth. Outer Banks Daredevils scored on a two-run double by Will Miller.

Outer Banks Daredevils added four more runs in the bottom of the eighth. The inning looked promising, as Will Connerly tripled, plating Cam Kostyack, Kevin and Dylan Harvey to kick things off. That was followed up by Eric’s double, scoring Will Connerly.

Battery fails the Mid Atlantic Pirates, lose 11-10 to Outer Banks Daredevils on hit into a fielder’s choice

Thursday, July 25, 2013 – First Flight Baseball Complex, Kill Devil Hills, NC

Conner Hall‘s walk-off hit into a fielder’s choice off of Luke Suttmiller boosted Outer Banks Daredevils to an 11-10 win over the Mid Atlantic Pirates in 10 innings at First Flight HS on Thursday.

Conner racked up six RBIs on three hits for Outer Banks Daredevils. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the third and eighth innings.

Each team blasted the other’s pitching, and there were 21 total runs and 25 hits during the game. Both bullpens were busy with six pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.

Hunter Earley got the win for Outer Banks Daredevils. He allowed two runs over four innings. Hunter struck out four, walked one and gave up four hits.

The top of the first saw the Mid Atlantic Pirates take an early lead, 1-0.

Outer Banks Daredevils brought home three runs in the second inning, and matched that run total in the third. In the second, Outer Banks Daredevils scored on a three-run double by Conner, plating Cam Kostyack, John Croak and Zach Hynes.

After a quick strike from the Mid Atlantic Pirates, Outer Banks Daredevils responded with two runs in the sixth. Outer Banks Daredevils scored on and a fielder’s choice.

The Mid Atlantic Pirates scored one run in each of the seventh, eighth and tenth. In the seventh, the Mid Atlantic Pirates scored on a groundout by Killen Strenn, plating Rob Reaume.

Outer Banks Daredevils answered the Mid Atlantic Pirates’ top inning with two runs of its own in the tenth. Outer Banks Daredevils scored on a passed ball.

Aaron Nardone (Delaware St./Greenbrier Knights) named 2013 All-Star Game MVP

Wednesday, July 24, 2013 – First Flight Baseball Complex, Kill Devil Hills, NC.

Aaron Nardone, Delaware State / Greenbrier Knights was named MVP of the 2013 Tidewater Summer League Collegiate All-Star Game Wednesday night. Nardone hit a 3 run home run in the bottom of the 1st inning, giving the South All-Stars the lead that they never relinquished, winning over the North All-Stars by a final score of 6 – 4. Conner Hall (Longwood Univ./Outer Banks Daredevils) had a 2 for 2 night with a walk and a run scored, and Eric Schneck-Joblinski (Kirkwood CC/Outer Banks Daredevils) went 1 for 1 with a 2 RBI Triple and 2 walks. Chase Kyriacov (Virginia Wesleyan College / Virginia Warriors) was the winning pitcher, and Josh Howard (Methodist Univ. / Outer Banks Daredevils) picked up the Save. The North All-Stars did not go quietly, putting up 4 runs, led by Kurt Sinnen (ODU/Tidewater Drillers) who had a 2 for 3 night with a walk and run scored, and Tyler Tharp (VMI/Tidewater Drillers) was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Josh Moore (Va Tech/Lynnhaven Stars) was 2 for 3 with a run scored, and Justin Lee (Norfolk State Univ. / Mid Atlantic Pirates) was 1 for 4 with a 2 RBI single in the 5th and Turner Bishop (ODU/Tidewater Drillers) had a 2 RBI single in the 6th. Billy Nixon (Hampden Sydney / Mid Atlantic Pirates) took the loss for the North All Stars. Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us for this great night of baseball.

2013 Tidewater Summer League All Star Game…

The Tidewater Summer League has named it’s 2013 Collegiate All Stars. The 2013 TSL All Star Game will be hosted by the Outer Banks Daredevils at the First Flight Baseball Complex, located at 109 Veterans Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948 and will be played on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. The ballpark will open at 5:30pm, with Home Run Derby beginning at 6:30pm, and the first pitch will be at 7:30pm. We are honored to have special guest Jonny Waters and Company joining us for our All Star celebration and will be performing our National Anthem along with his hit Flip Flop Cowboy. We will also be raising money and awareness for the league’s 2013 designated charities, the Navy Seal Foundation and Wounded Wear. Outer Banks Daredevils defeat the Lynnhaven Stars 8 – 2

July 19, 2013 – First Flight Baseball Complex, Kill Devil Hills, NC.

The Outer Banks Daredevils defeated the Lynnhaven Stars by a score of 8 – 2 on a beautiful OBX Friday night. Devin Hemmerich (NSU) earned the win and Hunter Earley (COA) picked up the save with 3 innings of shut out relief work. Ryan Van Assche (NSU) took the loss for the Stars. The Daredevils offense was led by Will Connerley (VMI) who went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.

Outer Banks Daredevils uses big eighth inning to beat Greenbrier Knights, 17-4

July 18, 2013 – First Flight Baseball Complex, Kill Devil Hills, NC

A 10-run explosion in the eighth inning carried Outer Banks Daredevils to a 17-4 win over Greenbrier Knights at First Flight HS on Thursday.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the fifth, with five lead changes.

Outer Banks Daredevils finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. A sacrifice fly by Conner Hall (Longwood Univ) scored Dylan Harvey (Coastal Carolina) and gave Outer Banks Daredevils the lead for good.

Conner racked up three RBIs on two hits for Outer Banks Daredevils.

Josh Vales (Norfolk State Univ) got the win for Outer Banks Daredevils. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Josh Vales struck out eight, walked three and gave up four hits.

Outer Banks Daredevils pounded Greenbrier Knights pitching, as six hitters combined for 12 hits, seven RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Outer Banks Daredevils answered Greenbrier Knights’ top inning with one run of its own in the second. Outer Banks Daredevils scored on a walk by Will Connerly (VMI).

Outer Banks Daredevils went up for good in the fifth scoring two total runs, which came home on.

Outer Banks Daredevils increased its lead with three runs in the seventh. A wild pitch scored Conner to start the scoring in the inning.

Outer Banks Daredevils outslugs the Mid Atlantic Pirates in 5-2 defeat

Tuesday, July 16, 2013 – First Flight Baseball Complex, Kill Devil Hills, NC.

Outer Banks Daredevils lost 5-2 at First Flight HS on Tuesday, despite outhitting the Mid Atlantic Pirates nine to eight.

Billy Nixon (Hampden Sydney) got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over nine innings. Billy struck out eight, walked one and gave up nine hits.

The Mid Atlantic Pirates never trailed after scoring three runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Mike Bruno, an RBI single by Killen Strenn (Norfolk State Univ), and a steal of home by Nick Morrisette (Deleware Tech).

The Mid Atlantic Pirates tacked on another two runs in the fifth. Kyle Matthews (Eastern Mennonite Univ) doubled, scoring Justin Lee (Norfolk State Univ) to start the inning.

An one-run eighth inning helped bring Outer Banks Daredevils within four. A groundout by Brent West (COA) set off Outer Banks Daredevils rally. Conner Hall (Longwood Univ) grounded out to end the Outer Banks Daredevils threat.

Outer Banks Daredevils survives Greenbrier Knights 7-5 thanks to Cam Kostyack’s late-game heroics

Monday, July 15, 2013 – First Flight Baseball Complex, Kill Devil Hills, NC.

Cam Kostyack (U of Mary Washington) brought home the go-ahead run to give Outer Banks Daredevils the lead in the eighth inning, as Outer Banks Daredevils hung on to beat Greenbrier Knights 7-5 on Monday.

Kevin Stein (U of Mary Washington) singled to get on base in the eighth. He then went from first to second on a groundout by Zach Hynes (Bridgewater College).

Outer Banks Daredevils’ Eric Schenck-Joblinske (Kirkwood CC) was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He singled in the first and third innings and tripled in the fifth inning.

Josh Howard (Methodist Univ) put together a nice outing. Greenbrier Knights managed just one hit off of the Outer Banks Daredevils’ pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out three during his three innings of work.

In the top of the first, Greenbrier Knights grabbed the early lead, 2-0. A single by Mike Kroll (Randolph-Macon College), scoring Tyon Ore (Norfolk State Univ) and Jordan Sargent (West Virginia Univ) started the inning off.

It didn’t take long for Outer Banks Daredevils to answer as it scored two runs of its own in the third. Outer Banks Daredevils scored on an error and an error.
