Matt Carter’s effort not enough to carry Outer Banks Daredevils past Greenbrier Knights, 4-0

Matt Carter held up his end of the bargain, but Matt Carter couldn’t guide Outer Banks Daredevils past Greenbrier Knights as Outer Banks Daredevils lost 4-0 at PNC Park, First Flight Athletic Complex on Tuesday.

Matt Carter brought the heat against Greenbrier Knights during his outing. Greenbrier Knights managed just one hit off of Carter, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his one inning of work.

Greg Beale recorded the win for Greenbrier Knights. He tossed six innings of shutout ball. Beale struck out one, walked one and gave up two hits.

Scott Oberhelman ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed three runs.

The game was never in doubt after the third, as Greenbrier Knights scored two runs on an error and a groundout by Aj Hunt.

Greenbrier Knights brought home one run in the fourth inning, and matched that run total in the ninth. In the fourth, Greenbrier Knights scored on a sacrifice fly by Jamison Griffin, plating Matt Polak.

Chris Childress led the Daredevils offense with 3 hits on the night, but the Daredevils were unable to get any runners across the plate.
