ZACH ALEXANDER NAMED 2023 HEAD COACH

The Outer Banks Daredevils are excited to announce the hiring of Zach Alexander as our 2023 head coach.

Zach Alexander

ZACH ALEXANDER will serve as our Head Coach for the 2023 season. Coach Alexander will be entering his first year coaching in the Premier Collegiate League.

Zach Alexander enters his fourth season at Manteo this spring, and his first as the head coach.  He comes to Manteo after spending the last six seasons at North Carolina Wesleyan. Alexander served two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach with his alma mater… the first while he completed his degree, and the second while serving as a 5th grade teacher within the Nash/Rocky Mount School system.

In the fall of 2014, Alexander joined NC Wesleyan as a full-time assistant to Intramurals, while in the summer of 2015, his duties moved entirely to the Department of Athletics as Assistant Baseball Coach and Director of Outdoor Facilities.  He was a standout player for head coach Charlie Long at NC Wesleyan from 2008 to 2011.  Coach Alexander was a two-time USA South All-Conference performer at first base.  He led Wesleyan to a pair of conference championships during his playing tenure. After manning the hot corner as a freshman, he made the move over to first base during his sophomore campaign, where he would become a three-year starter. That same 2009 season was highlighted by the Bishops capturing both the USA South regular season and tournament crowns en route to the program’s 21st NCAA berth.

Individually, Alexander posted his best collegiate numbers during a 2010 junior season that saw the Virginia Beach native bat .468 in conference play with a trio of homeruns, 12 doubles and 34
RBIs. Wesleyan capture its second straight regular season league title that year, and for his
efforts, Alexander was named the team’s Most Valuable Player.

Coach Alexander grew up in Virginia Beach, VA and attended Kempsville High School where he played for Coach Paul Shows. Kempsville was the 2007 Beach district champions and Coach Alexander was the Offensive MVP.

Coach Alexander graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan in 2013 with his B.S. in Elementary Education.

DAREDEVILS FORCED TO CANCEL 2022 SEASON

DAREDEVILS FORCED TO CANCEL 2022 SEASON.

May 1, 2022 – The Outer Banks Daredevils have unfortunately been forced to cancel their 2022 season. The Dare County School Board, in their August 2021 meeting and as part of the Covid-19 mitigation strategy, voted to not allow outside groups to use school facilities during the 2021/2022 school year. This left the Daredevils without a field and therefore we had no other option but to cancel the 2022 season. We hope to return to the field for the 2023 season.

Daredevils will be playing their games in Va Beach for the 2019 season

The Outer Banks Daredevils have announced that they will be playing all of their games in Virginia Beach again for the 2019 season. We hope to be able to return to the Outer Banks for the 2020 summer.

2018 Schedule Released

In consideration of long overdue and much needed maintenance, repairs and improvements at the First Flight Athletic Complex, the Outer Banks Daredevils will not be playing home games in the Outer Banks during the 2018 season, clearing the way for any and all necessary work to be completed prior to the 2018/2019 school year. Dare County Schools have been supporters of our organization since inception, providing us with outstanding facilities to host our games, and entertain the locals and the visitors alike on summer nights. We are extremely grateful for the support and hard work of Dr. Burgess, Jim Winebarger, and Gary Herrmann, with Dare County Schools, making it possible for the Daredevils to play and be a part of the Outer Banks community. During the first 10 seasons, the Daredevils played their home games at Manteo High School, and we are forever grateful for the tireless efforts and support of then AD and Head Baseball Coach Kenny Meekins and Principle John Luciano. After switching to First Flight High School for the 2006 season, we have received the continued support of Athletic Director Ray Scott and Head Coach Steve Saunders, as well as former Principle Tillet and current Principle Albert, and we are equally grateful for their support as well. The hard work, support and selfless efforts of these men and others, along with the support of the Dare County Board of Education has helped provide the Outer Banks with quality, family entertainment, and a venue to support and raise awareness for local charities and youth organizations. While we will miss our fans this summer, and it is certainly with a heavy heart we release this year’s schedule without any home games, we are extremely grateful for the support of our community, school board, our many sponsors and our loyal fans. We ask that you continue to support us during our 2018 season, as you will be able to follow all of the action on the team’s website, www.outerbanksdaredevils.com, as well as on our Game Changer page, our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snap Chat pages, and you will also be able to listen to live game broadcast on the internet through the Daredevils U-Stream broadcast. From the Outer Banks Daredevils, “THANK YOU” to everyone for your continued support, GO DAREDEVILS!
