The Tidewater Summer League announced individual team awards today, and we would like to recongnize the following players for earning our 2017 top hitter award, top pitcher award and team MVP.

Daredevils Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Waves
July 14, 2017 – Kill Devil Hills, NC
Even though Daredevils and Waves both had their opportunities, it was Waves that eventually prevailed 4-3 on Friday.
The game was tied at three with Waves batting in the top of the eighth when Matt Padeway singled off of Payton Holdsworth, driving in one run.
Daredevils took an early lead in the first inning. Eli Straw hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
Chase Douglas earned the win for Waves. He threw two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero runs, one hit, and walking one. Ryan Gallacio took the loss for Daredevils. He went one-third of an inning, allowing one run, and zero hits.
Brian Vieira started the game for Waves. He pitched six and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs, three hits, and striking out six. Ryan Allen started the game for Daredevils. He threw five and a third innings, surrendering two runs, seven hits, and striking out two.
Julio Rosales, Andrew Kasiski, Stephen Polanski, and Damian Hairston each managed one hit to lead Daredevils.
Waves had 11 hits in the game. Declan O’Malley, Jonathan Lindau, and Ross Abrash each collected multiple hits for Waves. Brandon Kussmaul led Waves with three runs batted in. He went 1-for-4 on the day. Waves didn’t commit a single error in the field. Lindau had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
With the win, the Virginia Beach Waves advance to Saturday’s Championship Game vs the Norfolk Bluefish. Game is scheduled for 1:00pm at Virginia Wesleyan University. The loss eliminates the Outer Banks Daredevils.

The Outer Banks Daredevils, with their 6-2 win over the Sea Monsters advance to the final four round of the TSL/VBCBL 2017 Championship Tournament.
This semi-final game will be played tonight, Friday, July 14th, at TowneBank OBX Park, located at the First Flight Athletic Complex, 109 Veterans Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948.
Gates will open at 6:30pm, with the first pitch at 7:00pm. Tickets are available at the front gate, all seating is general admission. Concessions are available. Fun for the whole family.
Daredevils win 6 – 2 over Sea Monsters in tourney opener.
July 13, 2017 – Virginia Beach, VA
Thursday was a long day for Sea Monsters, as they fell to Daredevils 6-2, behind strong hitting, defense and great pitching.
Daredevils took an early lead in the first inning. Stephen Polanski drove in two when he doubled in the first inning.
Sea Monsters knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out in the fourth inning Joe Lucas drove in two runs when he doubled.
Daredevils took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Nick Bay induced Julio Rosales to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored and Andrew Kasiski singled off of Bay, driving in one run.
Hunter Perdue earned the win for Daredevils. He went eight innings, giving up two runs, four hits, striking out six, and walking one. Payton Holdsworth recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Daredevils. Pat Barrett took the loss for Sea Monsters. He threw one inning, giving up one run, one hit, striking out one, and walking zero.
Bay started the game for Sea Monsters. He pitched six innings, allowing five runs, seven hits, striking out four, and walking one.
Antonio Leite Jr., Lucas, Garrett Jones, and Josh Mack each managed one hit to lead Sea Monsters. Sea Monsters didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ricardo Carrasco had the most chances in the field with six.
Daredevils had ten hits in the game. Polanski, Damian Hairston, Kasiski, and Rosales each collected multiple hits for Daredevils. Daredevils was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Ryan Williams made the most plays with eight.
The Outer Banks Daredevils advance to the final four round of the tournament, where they will face the Virginia Beach Waves on Friday, July 14th in the Outer Banks. The Portsmouth Sea Monsters season and bid to repeat thier 2016 championship ended with the loss.

Tonight’s scheduled game between the Virginia Beach Waves and the Outer Banks Daredevils has been cancelled due to unplayable field conditions as a result of this afternoons thunderstorms and heavy rains.
The Daredevils will be back in action tomorrow night, Tuesday, July 11th, as the Lynnhaven Pelicans will be coming to town for a 7:00pm game.
Following last evenings thunderstorms, the field is extremely wet today, and with the weatherman forecasting an early afternoon thunderstorm in the area around 4:30pm today, we have changed the scheduled double header to a single 9 inning game that will begin at 7:00pm.
