We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for a great season to all of our fans, sponsors, volunteers, host families, staff and Dare County Schools. Everyone from our coaching staff, field crew, interns, press box workers, retail workers, and front gate staff, to our players, fans, sponsors and host families helped make the 2023 season a success and we are forever grateful for your support.
We would also like to share with everyone the great news, that through our partnership with the Manteo HS Athletic Booster Club, and their work in the concession stand this summer at our home games, we together were able to raise over $17,000.00 for our local high school athletes.
In addition, we want to thank our players for their help in the community this summer, as our team put in hundreds of hours of community service work this summer. The boys of summer helped with everything from volunteering to help at field days at our local elementary schools, participating in the summer reading program at our local libraries, stocking shelves at the local food pantries, helping at the YMCA, volunteering to help with Mt. Olivet’s Vacation Bible School, helping set up and clean up at Roanoke Island Festival Park, to volunteering with Surfing for Autism.
Thank you for a great summer… from the Outer Banks Scallywags.
As part of our rebranding, the Daredevils have changed their team’s name and are now the Outer Banks Scallywags.
Following a long and storied history playing under the moniker of the Daredevils, the club has decided to rebrand the team, tying into our local lore of the pirates who once haunted these dunes and inlets, and have taken a new name, and will henceforth be the Outer Banks Scallywags.
Additional information will be added in the coming days, but join us in celebrating the new name, new brand and great collegiate summer baseball. Make plans to join the Scallywags this summer, individual game day tickets are on sale now, as well as season passes.
New Scallywags merchandise should be available on our website in the coming days. AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGG MATIE… The Scallywags be upon us.

May 1, 2021 – Due to continued issues related to the Covid pandemic, the Daredevils were regrettably forced to cancel their 2021 season. The Daredevils want to thank all of their fans, sponsors and host families for their continued support and we look forward to returning to the field for the 2022 season.
In consideration of long overdue and much needed maintenance, repairs and improvements at the First Flight Athletic Complex, the Outer Banks Daredevils will not be playing home games in the Outer Banks during the 2018 season, clearing the way for any and all necessary work to be completed prior to the 2018/2019 school year. Dare County Schools have been supporters of our organization since inception, providing us with outstanding facilities to host our games, and entertain the locals and the visitors alike on summer nights. We are extremely grateful for the support and hard work of Dr. Burgess, Jim Winebarger, and Gary Herrmann, with Dare County Schools, making it possible for the Daredevils to play and be a part of the Outer Banks community. During the first 10 seasons, the Daredevils played their home games at Manteo High School, and we are forever grateful for the tireless efforts and support of then AD and Head Baseball Coach Kenny Meekins and Principle John Luciano. After switching to First Flight High School for the 2006 season, we have received the continued support of Athletic Director Ray Scott and Head Coach Steve Saunders, as well as former Principle Tillet and current Principle Albert, and we are equally grateful for their support as well. The hard work, support and selfless efforts of these men and others, along with the support of the Dare County Board of Education has helped provide the Outer Banks with quality, family entertainment, and a venue to support and raise awareness for local charities and youth organizations. While we will miss our fans this summer, and it is certainly with a heavy heart we release this year’s schedule without any home games, we are extremely grateful for the support of our community, school board, our many sponsors and our loyal fans. We ask that you continue to support us during our 2018 season, as you will be able to follow all of the action on the team’s website, www.outerbanksdaredevils.com, as well as on our Game Changer page, our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snap Chat pages, and you will also be able to listen to live game broadcast on the internet through the Daredevils U-Stream broadcast. From the Outer Banks Daredevils, “THANK YOU” to everyone for your continued support, GO DAREDEVILS!
Don’t miss out on any of the fun this summer as the Outer Banks Daredevils will be back for their 19th season of collegiate wood bat league baseball here in the Outer Banks. Our season runs from June 5th – July 16th, with home games played at the First Flight Athletic Complex in Kill Devil Hills. Make plans to spend your summer evenings at the ballpark cheering on our home team. Go Daredevils!
Congratulations to the Outer Banks Daredevils, 2016 Tidewater Collegiate Summer League Champions. The Outer Banks Daredevils completed the 2016 season with a league best record of 12 – 4, and following the post season rain outs, the Daredevils were awarded the Tidewater Collegiate Summer League’s 2016 Postove Cup Championship.
We are proud of our players, and the way the joined us and our community this summer. They were champions both on and off the field, as they entertained our fans with outstanding play at night, and as a team, volunteered over 200 hours with local non profit organizations, working in our community and providing a positive role model for our area’s youth.
Thank you 2016 Outer Banks Daredevils for another great season of collegiate summer baseball. We wish each of you the best as you continue your collegiate career and beyond.
